  • Culture – The South is home to 9 out of the 10 states with highest rates of obesity
  • Socioeconomic Status – lower SES have historically higher prevalence of obesity
  • Demographics -- Certain groups are more prone to obesity than others (males, blacks & persons aged 55-64)
